In response to requests from
companies engaged in submarine cable installation activities, Pacific International Cable
Consulting has prepared the following training courses for personnel. It is envisaged that these courses will take place at the offices of the companies involved or onboard their vessels and will involve 4 students at a time so as to keep costs to a minimum. Full details of course content, specifics and costs can be obtained on request to Mike Wilson of PICC. The courses will consist of the following modules: MODULE 0 INTRODUCTION TO SUBMARINE CABLE ENGINEERING. ESTIMATED DURATION 3 WORKING DAYS.
MODULE 1 SURFACE LAY PROCEDURES AND SLACK CONTROL. ESTIMATED DURATION 5 WORKING DAYS.
MODULE 2. POWER FEED AND POWER SAFETY. ESTIMATED DURATION 5 WORKING DAYS.
MODULE 3. PRINCIPLES OF OPTICAL TRANSMISSION AND TESTING. PRINCIPLES OF DC TESTING AND FAULT LOCATION TECHNIQUES. ESTIMATED DURATION 2 WORKING DAYS.
MODULE 4. REPORTING AND DATA COLLECTION. ESTIMATED DURATION 1 WORKING DAY.
